Box Units


Box units are a line heater and production separator combined in a single skid-mounted package. Our standard box unit consists of a 2" 6,000 psi multi-pass coil assembly with choke, a 24" O.D. X 10' seam/seam X 1,440 psi ASME Code 3 phase horizontal separator with full instrumentation, an 8" fuel gas bottle, and a 12" fire tube with 1 million BTU burner.   The separator, fuel gas bottle and instrumentation are fully enclosed in a heavy-duty box with doors for easy access, and the coil and fire tube assemblies are flanged to allow removal from the water box. All piping tie-in points are located outside the boxes, for easy hook-up.

Standard housings are provided with a FENIKS swing bolt closure. Other options include blind/flange, threaded, or quick-opening closures.

How The Heater Treater Operates


Gas and liquids enter the heater treater in the upper barrel (green vessel). Gas exits the upper barrel after passing through a mist extractor. Free water exits the upper barrel by way of a liquid level-controlled dump valve. The remaining oil and water enters the lower barrel (tan vessel). The gas-fired tube heats the oil/water mixture, causing the oil to break out and separate from the water and spill over an internal baffle and into the oil section of the vessel. Both the water and oil sections are equipped with liquid level-controlled dump valves for liquid removal.

Flare Stack Liquid Knockouts

Sand Separators


North Texas Pressure Vessels is home of the SAND SHARK™ sand separator.  Our patent-pending design operates in ways not found in traditional sand separators, resulting in improved performance and reliability.  All units are designed and manufactured per ASME Section VIII, Division I, with non-Code models also available.

Standard models are:

16" O.D. X 8' seam/seam X 3,000 psi MAWP with 2" 1502 hammer unions

16" O.D. X 8' seam/seam X 10,000 psi MAWP with 2" or 3" 1502 hammer unions

20" O.D. X 8' seam/seam X 5,800 psi MAWP with 2" or 3" 1502 hammer unions

24" O.D. X 8' seam/seam X 5,800 psi MAWP with 2" or 3" 1502 hammer unions

30" O.D. X 8' seam/seam X 1,440 psi MAWP with 3" 1502 hammer unions

Threaded connections (limited by design pressure) and flanged connections (either ANSI or API, based on design pressure) are available in lieu of hammer unions in some applications.  NACE certification is available upon request.  All sand separators are typically mounted on an L-skid.  An optional trailer mount is available, for easy transport to and from the job site, and is equipped with a hydraulic cylinder for field erection (see video).  Please contact our sales department at 940-327-0800 for price and delivery, or by email at:
